Hyalinisation of the seminiferous tubules (Fig. 11.24), and azoospermia, are consistent features of the 47,XXY variety of Klinefelter's syndrome.
The small, firm testes are usually less than 2cm in length and always less than 3.5cm (corresponding to a volume of 2 and 12ml, respectively). Mean body height is increased due to a larger lower body segment. Gynaecomastia ordinarily appears during adolescence and may progress to become disfiguring.
